Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is a very ambitious scheme launched by the Government of India by Narendra Modi. Under the Ujjwala scheme, the Government of India is providing LPG connections. At the time of the launch of the scheme, LPG connection was decided to be given only in the name of women belonging to below poverty line families but now under this scheme, all ration cardholders will be given LPG connection free of cost.

Under the scheme, the Government of India will provide free LPG connections to more than 10 crore BPL and poor families in the country by the year 2021. Till the current financial year (2018-19), LPG connections have been provided to 6 crore BPL (Below Poverty Line) households across the country.

Plan budgeting and funding

Under the Financial Assistance Scheme, the Government of India will provide financial assistance of Rs 1600 to each eligible BPL family, which will be for buying a gas connection.

The Government of India will also provide the facility of installments to BPL families to pay for the cost of purchasing stoves and filling cylinders for the first time.
